How it works

Each record plays a 30-second preview from its first note. The price falls with every second you hear, so the game is deciding when you are sure. Pausing freezes the price and replaying is free. Today’s five are drawn from the 200 best-known records in the catalogue, so this is a game almost anyone can finish.

Questions

How does the daily song game work?
Every day there are 5 records, the same 5 for everyone. Press play, then pick the cover that is playing out of four. A record is worth the most the moment it starts and less for every second you hear, and a wrong cover costs one of your 3 hearts.
When do the new songs come out?
At midnight UTC, every day. That is 7pm in New York, midnight in London in winter and 11am in Sydney.
Is this a Heardle alternative?
It is a daily song game in the same spirit: one short game a day, the same for everyone, and a result you can share without spoiling it. The difference is the clock. Instead of unlocking a few more seconds at a time, a record plays from the start and its price falls the longer you listen.
Can I play more than once a day?
The daily is once a day, so everyone's score is on the same 5 records. For as many rounds as you like, the quizzes by decade, genre and artist are free and endless.
Does my streak save?
In this browser, yes: your result and streak are kept on your device and never sent anywhere. A private window or clearing site data starts the streak again.
