Subscription Terms
1. The key facts, up front
Subscription title: Guess The Song Premium (subscription group: “Premium”). It is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple’s in-app purchase system.
| Plan | Product identifier | Length of subscription period | Price | Price per unit | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium Yearly | gts_1_year_39_99 | 1 year | $39.99 per year | approx. $3.33 per month | 7-day free trial for new subscribers |
| Premium Monthly | gts_1_month_5_99 | 1 month | $5.99 per month | $5.99 per month | none |
What the subscription gives you — both plans, identically:
- Unlimited daily games — the free tier’s limit of 3 games per day is removed.
- Difficulty tiers 7 to 10 — the hardest four of the ten tiers, with score multipliers up to x3.5. Tiers 1 to 6 are free for everyone.
That is the whole entitlement. There is nothing else in it. In particular, see section 12 about features that are not shipped.
The essential terms in one place:
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price then in effect for your plan.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings after purchase — see section 8 for the exact path.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable.
- Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
- Apple handles all billing and all refunds. The developer cannot refund an App Store charge.
2. Prices and currency
The prices above are US storefront prices, shown so you have a concrete figure.
Apple localises pricing. The amount you actually pay depends on your App Store storefront, your local currency, and any tax Apple is required to collect. Apple always shows you the exact amount and currency you will be charged, and the length of the period, on the confirmation sheet before you complete the purchase. That figure — not the US price on this page — is the price of your contract.
The “price per unit” column for the yearly plan is the yearly price divided by twelve, rounded, and is given for comparison only; the yearly plan is billed once per year as a single charge, not monthly.
Tax treatment is Apple’s responsibility as merchant of record. Depending on your country, the price Apple displays may be inclusive or exclusive of VAT or sales tax; Apple’s confirmation sheet and your Apple receipt are authoritative.
3. How the purchase works
Guess The Song uses Apple StoreKit 2 in-app purchases.
- You choose Premium Yearly or Premium Monthly in the app.
- Apple shows you a confirmation sheet with the plan, the period, the exact price in your currency, and any trial.
- You confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple Account password.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
- Premium unlocks in the app.
Apple is the merchant of record. Apple takes the payment, holds your payment method, issues your receipt, manages renewals and handles refunds. The developer never sees your card number, your bank details or your billing address, and has no ability to charge, re-charge or refund your Apple Account.
3.1 How your entitlement is checked
Your Premium entitlement is verified on your device, using StoreKit 2 verified transactions signed by Apple. There is no server-side receipt verification at this time.
Practically, this means the app needs to be able to reach Apple’s services from time to time to confirm your subscription is still active. If your device has been offline for a long period, or if StoreKit cannot return a verified transaction, Premium may temporarily appear locked. Reconnect to the network and, if needed, use Restore Purchases in the app (section 7).
4. Auto-renewal — how it works
The subscription renews automatically. This is how Apple’s auto-renewable subscriptions work, and it is what you are agreeing to when you buy one.
- Your subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the then-current price for your plan.
- A renewal buys the next period of the same length: one year for the yearly plan, one month for the monthly plan.
- Renewal continues indefinitely until you turn off auto-renew or the subscription is cancelled by Apple (for example if your payment method fails).
- Turning off auto-renew does not end your current period. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it then simply stops.
Apple normally emails a receipt for each renewal to the address on your Apple Account. Apple, not the developer, controls those notifications; you can also see every charge in your Apple purchase history.
5. Free trial (yearly plan)
The Premium Yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. The monthly plan has no trial.
- The trial is available once, to a customer who is new to the “Premium” subscription group. Apple decides eligibility based on your Apple Account, and Apple’s confirmation sheet will tell you before you confirm whether you are getting the trial.
- Family Sharing and Apple Account history affect eligibility. If you have had a Premium trial or subscription before, you will normally not be offered the trial again.
- During the trial you get the full Premium entitlement: unlimited daily games and tiers 7–10.
- Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the trial converts automatically into a paid yearly subscription and your Apple Account is charged the yearly price then in effect. The charge happens within 24 hours before the end of the trial.
- To avoid being charged, turn off auto-renew more than 24 hours before the trial ends — see section 8. You keep the trial until the day it would have ended.
- Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription, where applicable. In other words, if you buy a subscription while a free trial is still running, the remainder of the free period is lost and does not carry over or extend the paid period.
- Only one trial per customer. Cancelling and resubscribing does not restart it.
6. What is free without a subscription
You never have to pay to play Guess The Song.
| Free | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Games per day | 3 | unlimited |
| Difficulty tiers | 1–6 (multipliers from x1.0) | 1–10 (multipliers up to x3.5) |
| Classic and Arcade rulesets | yes | yes |
| Three hearts per game | yes | yes |
| Free play (no hearts) | yes | yes |
Scoring works the same for everyone: round(400 × curve factor × the song's difficulty multiplier), where the curve factor falls with how much of the recording you have ever heard — 100% at 0:00, 75% at 0:15, and a 50% floor from 0:30 onward. Pausing freezes the price; replaying ground you have already heard is free. Premium does not change the scoring formula; it unlocks tiers whose multipliers are higher.
7. Using Premium on another device, and restoring it
Your subscription belongs to your Apple Account, not to a particular installation of the app.
- Use Restore Purchases in the app to re-activate Premium after reinstalling, or on a new iPhone, as long as you sign in with the same Apple Account that bought it. You will not be charged twice for the same period.
- If your subscription is shared through Family Sharing and you have enabled sharing for it in your Apple Account settings, family members may also be entitled to Premium; Apple’s Family Sharing rules govern that.
- Your game progress is a separate matter. Accounts in Guess The Song are anonymous and device-bound, and progress can be permanently lost if you delete the app or change device. Your subscription can be restored; your progress usually cannot. See section 5 of the Terms of Service.
8. How to manage and cancel — the exact path
You cancel with Apple, not with us. The developer cannot cancel your subscription for you.
On your iPhone:
Settings app → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Guess The Song → Cancel Subscription
Or, from the App Store:
App Store app → tap your profile picture (top right) → Subscriptions → Guess The Song → Cancel Subscription
The app also offers a shortcut to Apple’s subscription management sheet from its settings screen; it takes you to the same place.
On a Mac: App Store → click your name (bottom of the sidebar) → Account Settings → scroll to Manage next to Subscriptions → Edit next to Guess The Song.
On the same screen you can also switch between the monthly and yearly plans. Apple handles the proration or the timing of the switch according to its own rules — an upgrade normally takes effect immediately with a credit for the unused time, and a downgrade normally takes effect at the end of the current period.
8.1 Important: deleting the app does not cancel anything
Deleting Guess The Song from your iPhone does NOT cancel your subscription and does NOT stop future charges. The subscription lives in your Apple Account. You must cancel it using the path above, at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, or you will be charged for the next one.
8.2 What happens after you cancel
- You keep Premium until the end of the current paid period.
- After that, the app reverts to the free tier: 3 games per day and tiers 1–6. Your progress is not deleted because you cancelled.
- Cancelling does not, on its own, entitle you to a refund of the period already paid for — see section 9 for refunds and section 10 for the EU/UK withdrawal right.
9. Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple. Apple is the merchant of record; the developer has no access to your payment method and cannot refund an App Store charge, no matter how much we would like to help.
To request a refund:
Go to https://reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, find the Guess The Song charge, and choose Request a refund.
You can also use the “Report a Problem” link in the emailed Apple receipt, or contact Apple Support directly.
Apple decides whether to grant a refund according to its own policies and applicable law. Apple’s decision is Apple’s; we are not consulted and we cannot overturn it.
If you contact us instead, we will point you at the link above, and — where you have a legitimate consumer-law claim and Apple has declined — we will engage with it seriously. Where mandatory consumer law entitles you to a refund and Apple has not provided it, contact us at maximusik2@gmail.com and we will resolve it, including paying it ourselves where the law puts that obligation on us as the seller of the digital content.
10. EU and UK consumers: the 14-day right of withdrawal
If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA or the UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital content within 14 days, under Directive 2011/83/EU (as implemented in your country) and, in the UK, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
How it works for digital content. The 14-day period runs from the conclusion of the contract. However, that right is lost once supply of the digital content has begun, provided that (a) you gave your express prior consent to supply beginning before the withdrawal period ends, and (b) you acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal.
What that means in practice here. Premium unlocks immediately when you confirm the purchase — that is the point of buying it. By confirming the purchase and using Premium you are asking for immediate supply and acknowledging that your 14-day withdrawal right ends once supply begins. If you have not yet used Premium within those 14 days, the right is intact and you can withdraw.
Who to exercise it against. Apple is the merchant of record for the transaction, so a withdrawal request is in practice made to Apple, through https://reportaproblem.apple.com — Apple applies a 14-day withdrawal policy for consumers in the EU and other jurisdictions that require one, and Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions set out how to exercise it. If Apple declines a withdrawal request that you believe was valid, email maximusik2@gmail.com with the details and the Apple transaction identifier and we will look at it and support your claim.
Nothing in these Subscription Terms takes away that statutory right, and nothing in them is intended to make it harder to exercise. Your other mandatory consumer rights — including your rights under Directive (EU) 2019/770 on digital content, the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015, and, for consumers in Ukraine, the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Consumer Rights” — also continue to apply in full. See section 13 of the Terms of Service.
11. Price changes
We may change the price of a plan — for example if costs change, or if Apple changes its pricing tiers or exchange-rate matrices.
- A price change never affects a period you have already paid for.
- Apple will notify you before a price increase takes effect at renewal, and, depending on the change and your storefront, Apple will either ask you to actively consent to the new price or tell you clearly that the subscription will renew at the new price unless you cancel. If your consent is required and you do not give it, the subscription does not renew — Apple will not charge you the higher price silently.
- If you do not want to continue at the new price, turn off auto-renew before the end of the current period (section 8). You keep Premium until that period ends.
- Apple may also change prices where local tax rates or currency conversion require it.
Apple’s own subscription price-change rules and notifications are part of the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions between you and Apple: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/
12. Features that are not part of what you are buying
We want to be completely clear about this, because it is the thing most likely to disappoint someone.
Duel 1v1, Friends Room and Hotseat are designed but not shipped. They appear in the app labelled “coming soon”. Leaderboards is currently a placeholder screen.
- None of these is part of the Premium entitlement.
- We give no promise, no date and no guarantee that any of them will ship, in any particular form, or at all.
- Do not subscribe because of them. If a “coming soon” feature is your reason for wanting Premium, please wait until it actually exists.
The Premium entitlement is, and is only, the two items in section 1: unlimited daily games, and difficulty tiers 7 to 10.
If we later change what Premium includes in a way that materially reduces it, we will give you notice in the app or at https://guessthesong.pro before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before your next renewal. See section 6.2 of the Terms of Service.
13. Requirements and things outside our control
- Guess The Song requires iOS 17 or later on an iPhone. It is portrait-only and dark-appearance only.
- The app plays Apple Music preview clips. You do not need an Apple Music subscription, and the app does not read your Apple Music library.
- Preview availability depends on Apple and on rights holders, and varies by App Store storefront. A recording available in one country may not be available in another, and the catalogue can change without notice. This is not something we control.
- Playing requires an internet connection.
- We may add, change or remove songs, difficulty tiers and features as described in section 6.2 of the Terms of Service.
14. Privacy of your subscription data
We store only whether you hold a Premium entitlement, which product it corresponds to, and its renewal or expiry state. We receive App Store Server Notifications from Apple about the lifecycle of the subscription.
We do not receive or store your name, your email address, your card number, the last four digits of it, or your billing address. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
15. If something goes wrong
| Problem | Who to contact |
|---|---|
| Charged unexpectedly, want a refund, want to dispute a charge | Apple — https://reportaproblem.apple.com |
| Want to cancel, change plan, or check when you renew | Apple — Settings → your name → Subscriptions (section 8) |
| Paid but Premium is not unlocking | Try Restore Purchases in the app; if that fails, email us |
| Bug, missing song, a question about how scoring works, a complaint about the app | us — maximusik2@gmail.com |
For anything you email us about a subscription, please include the Apple transaction identifier from your Apple receipt if you have it — because accounts are anonymous, that is often the only way we can match your entitlement record. See section 9.1 of the Privacy Policy.
16. Changes to these Subscription Terms
The current version always lives at https://guessthesong.pro/subscription-terms/ with its effective date at the top. For material changes we will give at least 14 days’ notice in the app or on the website before they take effect. Changes never apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
These Subscription Terms form part of the Terms of Service, and the Terms of Service — including the limitation of liability, the consumer-rights carve-out in section 13, and the governing law and venue provisions in section 18 — apply to your subscription as well.
